Shining Armor, a unicorn pony, is Princess Twilight's older brother. He was the Captain of the Royal Guard in Canterlot, and later became Prince of the Crystal Empire and co-ruler alongside his wife Princess Cadance. Shining Armor is shown to be a mild-mannered and affectionate pony who deeply cares for Cadance and has a very close relationship to his younger sister, Twilight, whom he nicknames "Twily" while Twilight refers to him as her B.B.B.F.F (Big Brother Best Friend Forever). They lost touch with each other when Twilight Sparkle moved to Ponyville. He is sent north to the Crystal Empire when it returns after 1,000 years and assists the Mane Six and Princess Cadance in keeping it safe from its former ruler, King Sombra.
